Reflections: Earth
In this ongoing collection I continue the theme of "Reflection" initially prompted by my first series "Reflections", in mirrors, water, glass etc; By developing an interactive thought process with the objects and patinas that materialized onto them or transformed the base elements, --inside /outside of them-- new thoughts occur while observing material transformations. A spiritual and artistic meditation on the passage of time, philosophies and seeing the spirituality in the humblest of objects, the spirit and the molecule, the weathering processes--- lead me to explore the creative development till the very nature of the object is so transformed to appear abstract, almost unrecognizable from its original... Examples: a centuries old stone wall around a villa outside of Florence, weathered layers of paint over wood on an abandoned convenient store in North Carolina; Rusting railway feed wagon standing outside an abandoned Farm in North Carolina.
ON the other hand, the flowering of nature as is manifest in nature, the ripening of flowers and fruits and their subsequent transformation into seeds or fruit and decay to create new life also fascinated me. Some of the shown works are still works in progress and may change...as I get inspired to work them over... ;-) This collection is still evolving ....
